Somayaki, vintage Japanese tea set
Famous for it's double wall, which keeps the contents insulated and the hands cool, it's crackle glaze, the heart cut-outs and the galloping horse motif, Somayaki or Soma ware is produced by master crafters in Fukushima, Japan. This set was brought back by a military couple, now quite elderly, once stationed in Japan. It was never used and they decided to part with it when the downsized to a smaller home. It features a teapot, sugar and creamer, 8 large mugs, 8 small mugs and 6 handleless cups and saucers.
